The NFL’s Super Bowl isn’t for two more weeks, but if you are a fan of Nashville’s growing restaurant scene this is your Super Bowl – it is Restaurant Week in Nashville. Over 35 of Nashville’s finest restaurants offer special menus featuring three course meals during the twice-a-year event, sponsored by Nashville Originals.
It is an opportunity to try a variety of new eateries, as well as some of the traditional staples, around Nashville’s growing food scene without having to fork out an arm and a leg to do so. If the abundance of choices overwhelms you, here’s a week’s worth of suggestions.
Monday — Jackson’s, 1800 21st Ave S. Start your week off with a laid back dinner in Jackson’s cozy, yet hip, dining area. Start with the Spring-Rolled Quesadillas, Shrimp & Grits for your entrée, and close with the Cookie-Dough Egg Rolls – one of the best desserts in all of Nashville.
Tuesday — The Yellow Porch, 734 Thompson Lane. Tucked away in Berry Hill, start with the Sweetwater Tennessee Sharp Cheddar Fritters, try the Coffee Brined Smoked Pork Chop, and finish with Banana Foster’s White Chocolate Bread Pudding.
Wednesday — Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse, 217 Louise Ave. When you want a great steak in Nashville, Jimmy Kelly’s is the place – filet mignon with baked potato, finished with their famous Tennessee Blackberry Cobbler.
Thursday — Sole Mio, 311 3rd Ave S. One of the great fine Italian places in Nashville – start with the “Mista” salad, try the Ravioli Aragosta (lobster ravioli), and finish with their famous tiramisu.
Friday — Holland House, 935 West Eastland Ave. Start with the Sweet Potato & Ginger soup, followed by pork brisket with sautéed spinach and garbanzo, and finish with the Bourbon Pecan Cake.
Saturday — Germantown Café, 1200 Fifth Ave North. Start with the French Onion Soup, and for your entrée go for the Plum Pork – guaranteed not to disappoint.
Sunday — The Bunganut Pig, 1143 Columbia Ave (Franklin). A true southern meal to finish out Restaurant Week – fried pickles, a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo, Buffalo Chicken Sliders, and a fried Twinkie for dessert.
