Hello!

My name is Matthew, but we’re friends now, so you can call me Matt.

I’m a Middle Tennessee-based Public Relations professional and photographer. I spend my days telling the incredible stories of the tourism industry in Franklin, Tennessee, and my nights behind a camera, primarily covering the sports world.

For Visit Franklin, as the Senior Director of Public Relations, I often describe my job as a “matchmaker” because it is simply connecting the community’s unique stories with great journalists and storytellers worldwide.

Before Visit Franklin, I was the Assistant Sports Information Director at The University of Tennessee at Martin (Go Skyhawks!), where I was part of multiple championship teams and had the unique distinction of serving as the statistician for the only quadruple-double recorded in NCAA Men’s basketball history, a distinction Lester Hudson still holds today. UT Martin is also where photography entered my life. I got my start as a staff photographer and sports writer for my college newspaper, The Pacer.

It remained an unofficial part of my day job resume for several years, as I managed and worked on various political campaigns in Tennessee, and freelanced for Sports & Entertainment Nashville Magazine as a writer and photographer covering the music industry and sports.

Behind the camera these days, I find myself on the sidelines primarily shooting for ICON Sportswire in what has affectionately become known as the #corneroffice, but I will always make time for a shoot with the Blue Angels or on a golf course.

Outside of work, I’m a proud husband and father. My wife, Ashley, and I met in the sixth grade — it then only took me 16 years to convince her to marry me. We love a good, quirky festival (National Banana Pudding Festival included!), road trips, and now wrangling a pair of kids.

A few more essentials: I’m an enthusiastic golfer who has witnessed 14 holes-in-one and made exactly zero. I’ve run four half marathons and had three knee surgeries, so these days I stick to 5Ks and the bike. I quote The West Wing far more than is socially acceptable, yet still somehow not enough.
