The Battle at Bristol in Pictures
I have had the privilege of being on the sidelines and shooting in some pretty amazing arenas and stadiums, but all of them pale in comparison to the environment at the Battle at Bristol. Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech at the “Last Great Coliseum” was by far one of the coolest places I’ve ever shot. Words can not properly explain what it sounds, or feels like, to be surrounded by 156,990 college football fans.
Pregame included a concert from Sam Hunt, along with a half mile Vol Walk into the Bristol Motor Speedway that was one of the most impressive sights I’ve witnessed in person.
The game provided pretty standard action, with an ample amount of dysfunction and fumbles from Virginia Tech and a few really nice flips on a few tackles. I always appreciate when they’ll get in the air a little bit.
After the game was over, confetti flew like Tennessee had just won the Super Bowl. Seemed a bit excessive for the second game of the season, but made for a fun backdrop to pictures.
